Lindsey George
2025 HHCF Scholarship
$1,500
Lindsey George received the 2025 HHCF Scholarship, the most recent recipient. The award amount was increased to $1,500 this year. HHCF Board member Darleen Hainline presented the scholarship to Lindsey at the MEHA conference on April 10, 2025, along with the traditional homemade pie.
In her application essay, Lindsey discussed growing up with parents who emphasized community care. She first learned about public health careers in an Environmental Biology class and connected it to her food service experience interacting with health inspectors. She organized her essay around three themes:
- Education — Teaching communities the “why” behind health rules, not just the “what”
- Safety — Preventing outbreaks and keeping communities secure behind the scenes
- Integrity — Building trust with the public, especially after COVID (she lived in LA County during the pandemic)
Lindsey is interning at the McDonald County Health Department and plans to pursue the Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) credential after graduating from MSSU.
Congratulations, Lindsey! Your emphasis on education, safety, and integrity reflects the values at the heart of public health, and your internship at the McDonald County Health Department is already putting those principles into practice. We look forward to seeing you earn your REHS credential and make a lasting impact on the communities you serve.
