Since 2013, the HHCF Scholarship has supported students in Missouri Southern State University's Environmental Health & Safety program. All recipients are selected through the MMFEHA/MEHA conference.

Lindsey George

2025 · $1,500

Lindsey George received the 2025 HHCF Scholarship, the most recent recipient. The award amount was increased to $1,500 this year. HHCF Board member Darleen Hainline presented the scholarship to Lindsey at the MEHA conference on April 10, 2025, along with the traditional homemade pie.

Devyn Paige Ristau received the 2024 HHCF Scholarship, presented as a surprise at the MEHA (Missouri Environmental Health Association) conference lunch awards banquet on April 4, 2024. Dr. Teresa Boman, Program Director of Environmental Health and Safety at MSSU, selected Devyn for the award and coordinated with Tiffany Klassen to present it during the banquet.

Josh Radey received the 2022 HHCF Scholarship as the 11th recipient since the foundation's first award in 2013. A student in the Environmental Health & Safety program at Missouri Southern State University, Josh initially started as a Chemistry major at Western Carolina University before discovering Environmental Health through the SEA-PHAGES learning community.

Cecelia Austin received the 2017 HHCF Scholarship at the MMFEHA Awards Banquet. A student at Missouri Southern State University studying Environmental Health, Cecelia aspired to work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She received the scholarship plaque and, continuing the HHCF tradition, homemade pies — one for her and one for Dr. Mike Fletcher and the MSSU Environmental Health program.

A few weeks ago my wife Kelley and I had the pleasure of visiting Springfield Missouri to award Amelia Carpenter the HHCF scholarship. Amelia is a student in the MSSU Environmental Health Program in Joplin and was accompanied by two of her professors, Michael Kennedy and Dr. Mike Fletcher. We had a great time getting to know Amelia and her professors a little better. Amelia also has a degree in English, graduates the environmental health program in December, and is clearly well-liked by her professors.

This year Joseph Hainline, Micah Hainline, and Larry Hunt attended the Missouri Milk, Food, and Environmental Health Association awards banquet at Lake of the Ozarks. We presented our annual scholarship to Heidi Scheffler, a senior studying environmental health and geographic information systems at Missouri Southern State University. Dr. Mike Fletcher leads the environmental health program at MSSU and attended the awards ceremony with Heidi.

At this year's Missouri Milk, Food, and Environmental Health Association conference we had the honor of awarding our annual Hainline Heritage Charitable Foundation scholarship in the amount of $1000 to Brooklyn Lampe. Brooklyn is a senior in the Environmental Health program at MSSU, who plans to pursue her studies into graduate school. Larry Hunt, Darleen Hainline, and I had the honor of presenting her with the scholarship check, a hug, and a homemade apple pie.
